WHEN THE CORAL CAME HOME

A 32-page illustrated children's book, written and illustrated by me.

This project was a part of my FMP project for university, and it was also submitted for the Macmillan Prize for illustration 2026. The story follows a girl called Amelia who uses her inventive skills to explore the depths of the coral reef that surrounds her island. After she realises that the reef is fading due to climate change, she brings it upon herself to make a change, diving deep below the waves and finding the ancient technology that holds the power to bring back the colour in her beloved coral reef.

​This story was inspired by previous research that I have conducted on how 3D printing technology is being used to restore coral reefs around the globe.
